Allison Brodin

Hello! My name is Allison Brodin and I am a journalism and psychology double major doing PSEO at Bethel University. I like long camping trips, driving at night with my windows down and music blasting, and I adore singing. I like writing stories about underrepresented communities and social justice issues, specifically those surrounding women and I want to use my psychology knowledge to make my stories something that truly impacts readers. I hope to one day attain an internship at the PioneerPress or StarTribune.

Bethel Professor shares knowledge on suicide-prevention resources to Bethel community

Nick Zeimet approaches a wooden podium next to the fiction section of the Bethel University Library. He looks out beaming at over thirty students and faculty who had settled into plastic blue chairs and randomly rearranged library seating that came to his presentation today. He fidgets with the pockets of his khaki dress pants and fixes the bottom of his untucked grey button-down as people finish filing in. Seven years of school, ten years of social work, and one year of teaching have prepared h

Bethel University gains a new professor

Outside of teaching, Shofner has many other hobbies and passions. One of them being cycling, something completely unrelated to many other aspects of his life. Shofner loves the feeling of gliding at fast speeds. He thinks that there is something very rewarding about pushing himself as hard as he can physically while riding. Shofner also adores the beauty of God’s creation that he can see while on early morning rides as the sun rises.

Shofner’s talents don’t end there, he is also a seasoned musi

Commuting into community

Bethel’s off-campus students frequently feel left out and like a lesser part of the community.

Sofia Solorzano pulls into the East Lot at Bethel University each Monday morning at 7:40 a.m. for her first class, Orientation to College Studies. She parks her 2013 white Hyundai Elantra and walks into CLC109, her car keys attached to the side pocket of her backpack. The rest of her day consists of more classes, studying in The Loft and then driving fifteen minutes back to her home in Blaine at 2 p.m

CLUES Provides Cultural Foods

For Jennifer Peña, love and connection come in the form of tamales.

Food is important to Latino culture, but many members of St. Paul’s Latino community don’t have access to fresh produce. A program on St. Paul’s East Side provides a community garden full of fre

ThreeSixty Journalism: Just the beginning for Native American nonprofit MIGIZI

As protests swept through a south Minneapolis neighborhood, flames and destruction found their way to the home of Native American nonprofit MIGIZI. The organization’s 2-year-old building was reduced to rubble.

The fire was a setback but not a roadblock for the organization.

Binesikwe Means, lead media instructor at MIGIZI, said the community came together for a healing event after the fire.

She said, “We did everything to be able to find a place of healing for our community and then we went b
